Moulsham Lodge
Situated on the south-western edge of Chelmsford and comprising an established residential district. There are access points onto the A12, A414 and A130 within a couple of miles and a regular bus service connects to Chelmsford town centre. Moulsham Lodge has a wide range of facilities and activity groups, there is a shopping parade of 16 shops which cater for everyday needs and a Tesco superstore is located only a mile and a half away. There are several pre-school playgroups, Moulsham Primary and High Schools, community and sports centres, three churches, medical centre and doctors practise.

HISTORICAL
Chelmsford lay at the southern edge of the glacial advance during the Anglian ice age. The Chelmer Valley was probably settled 8000BC, and there is evidence of farming 4500BC. There was a Roman fort in 60AD and in the 2nd century the town walls enclosed 18 acres! Parts of Chelmsford cathedral date from the 15th Century. The Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation Canal was opened in 1797 and the railway reached the town in 1843. Chelmer Homes opened in 1997.

CHELMSFORD TODAY
Chelmsford is the County Town of Essex and the Borough has a population in excess of 150,000. It is the headquarters for Essex County Council, Chelmsford Borough Council and Essex Police (not forgetting Essex County Cricket Club). The railway station which connects to Liverpool St, London, caters for 10,000 passengers a day.

COMMUNICATIONS
Chelmsford is well served by major trunk roads including the dual carriageway A12 which links London to Ipswich, the M25 is within easy reach and Stansted Airport is only a short cross-country drive. There is a main line railway station at Chelmsford providing a commuter service to Liverpool Street, London (35 minutes journey time). There are bus services every 15 minutes during weekdays connecting Moulsham Lodge to Chelmsford and many routes pass through Great Baddow and Galleywood.
