There are numerous parks and playing fields including John Shennan (Moulsham Lodge), Recreation Ground and Baddow Hall Park (Gt Baddow), Chelmer Park (sports - 43 acres) and Galleywood Common (116 acres). Nearby are Danbury Commons (280 acres) and Hylands Park, Writtle (500 acres). There are footpaths along the River Chelmer.
